                                                                      ULPIA - PROFILE

Born in Arad, Romania, Ulpia was only five years old when she started playing the piano and after initial studies at the Music School she discovered her love for the harp which she started playing at nine years of age.

Studying at the Music High School, she was already performing recitals and a solo concert with a symphony orchestra.

Ulpia's tertiary studies were at the Conservatorium of Music in Cluj, a major musical centre of Romania. After graduating from the Conservatorium she was appointed as principal harpist with the Arad Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ulpia toured as a soloist with the orchestra and she had many successful appearances in Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Belgium.

Ulpia came to Australia, and has, since her arrival, performed with various orchestras. She has played with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, both as a member and a soloist, has performed in recitals and broadcasts with the ABC, has played in various charity concerts and musicals.

She has had very good reviews in ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’, ‘Sun Herald’, ‘Manly Daily’ and ‘The Australian'.

Ulpia’s TV appearances include shows like Cabaret (SBS), ‘Good Morning Australia’, ‘You are a Star’ (Channel Ten) and the ABC’s ‘Evening Music with James Dibble’ where she performed solo with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. 

 Ulpia has released five  recordings: “Enchanting Harp”, “Harp on the Heart”, “Angel’s Touch”,  “Tears of Joy” and “Window to My Soul”.

For the Harp Society of NSW, Ulpia has performed solo recitals at  Elizabeth Bay House and Government House in Sydney.

Currently Ulpia is performing, teaching, composing and arranging.
